My father gave the first impulse for my interest in Yoga to me. At the age of 12 years he drew my attention of me to an illustrated article about a yogi, who was able to heal himself by different cleansing exercises.
At that time, the idea to be able to heal yourself, was so fascinating to me that I wanted to become a 'Yogaman'.
At the age of 23 I rediscovered my passion for Yoga in an apartment-sharing community in Berlin. A Yoga teacher, who also was a friend, taught us Yoga 2-3 times a week. I learned fast and got a lot of attention for my devotion and perceptiveness.
Back in Hamburg I lived in the Himalaja-Institute for a short time. I began my training to become a Yoga teacher and in 1991 I met Radha und Derek Ireland, who paved my way for Astanga Yoga. Since then my life is affected by Yoga and has changed quite a bit.
It gave me strength, structure and endurance.
It is like a fire, a love, a passion, burning inside me, I always find my way back to it, no matter how I feel.
( My Yoga biography )
"It doesn’t interest me who you know or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand in the centre of the fire
with me and not shrink back.
I want to know if you can be alone with yourself
and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments."
